An Amalgam Loop: Persistent State is a bridge iteration between two projects; a satellite apparatus that expands the discourse of activeness of inanimate matter towards the concept of memory and dissipation. Based on a simple Python program, the Persistent State module aims to capture ephemereal phenomena by creating a persistent state of data onto physical medium (CD-RW).

An Amalgam Loop: Persistent State equips the original artwork reaction with an archival function, translating its chemical performance into audio and committing it, session after session, onto a rewritable CD. Where An Amalgam Loop retains no trace of its own past behaviour, Persistent State introduces the module of memory: a capacity every living organism inherits through genetic transmission, here extended to an inorganic process.
The archive lives inside a 3D-printed housing engraved with an ouroboros, mounted on its own tripod and connected to the installation's core via SATA. At regular intervals, a CD burner erases and re-records the disc with the latest behaviour of the chemical performance.
